My response to the brief
Scoping and instructional design
For this course there was already a document created that was once a course in a different platform that needed to be updated, curated and reorganized for the new eLearning platform of the company.
To begin the instructional design process, I created a scoping document that contained the company’s requirements regarding learning outcomes and learning theory design.
After going through the documents provided, I began to reorganize the content based on my scoping document.
I used ADDIE for the instructional design process and the company’s learning theory (Engage, Learn, Practice, Master).
We also used Asana as our tool for Project Management to map out the different phases of the project, the course curriculum and levels of approval with statuses and timelines.
Once this phase was completed, I began to design and develop the content. This meant creating content, adding images from a free library and consulting with our graphic designer for illustrations.
I have aligned the content to the learning theory of the company which meant to create 4 subtopics for each topic, as the level of engagement and practical activities was a part of the brand’s identity.
The practical activities always include reflection, open questions, quizzes, assessments and practical assignments that the students could upload and opt for a review from one of their tutors, to receive guidance.
A different element that was added to this course was the storyline for the Engage section. Because it is a course that talks about how to collaborate with nature and enjoy a hike in safety, I created imagery scenarios for each subtopic in the engage section that would bring the topic/issue of the chapter.
